Psichedelia in Opposition by Paolo Pellegrino is an 11-volume (18 books) encyclopaedia of contemporary classics, avant-garde, jazz, rock, progressive folk and blues, and genres often on the borderline.... The final, 11th volume, is devoted entirely to Frank Zappa. The first volume of the encyclopaedia was published in May 2014, the last volume in February 2023.

This voluminous series of books is based on the three-volume publication Underground, psichedelia, progressive e classica contemporanea: le opere che ne hanno abolito il confine published by the same author earlier in 2010 by AltroMondo Editore.

Paolo Pellegrino, born and resident in Genoa, professor of Mathematics by profession in the High School, is an international multifaceted artist. His works, as well as in painting, range in musical research (contemporary avant-garde, jazz and psychedelic rock, in which he is a songwriter and flautist), in photography and poetry (winner of various awards).
