In 2007, Scott Parker began a book series of Zappa recordings, which was to come in eight volumes. After a three-year hiatus, Scott Parker is now continuing this series with the ninth volume.
In the summer of 1978, Frank Zappa pieced together one of his greatest (if not THE greatest) rocking teenage combos he had ever assembled, and took them on the road in the fall of that year for a swing through Europe and the United States. This band, featuring such fabulous musicians as drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and guitarist/vocalist Ike Willis, became one of FZ's most beloved combos; this lineup would go on to record the Zappa masterwork JOE'S GARAGE the following year. In his new book, Scott Parker (host of the ZAPPACAST, the official Frank Zappa podcast) takes the reader on the road with Zappa and his band, as they slay audiences with their knockout musicianship, all leading up to the Halloween 1978 show at New York City's Palladium, a four-hour celebration that Frank correctly referred to as "The Big One."
