Zappa '88 - The Last U.S. Show
By Ingo Baron, p 90

Zappa ’80 – Mudd Club/Munich
By Ingo Baron, p 92

The archive of the super-musician, who died 30 years ago, is evidently inexhaustible. Now these two complete live concerts (3 CDs) from 1980 in New York and Munich (incidentally, Zappa's first digital recording) are being released. Of particular interest to us drummers is the fact that David Logeman (of the Beach Boys, among others) can be heard on drums, having replaced Vinnie Colaiuta at the time and leaving again shortly afterward when Colaiuta returned. Filling that position was certainly no easy task, but Logeman acquits himself more than admirably and does so in a decidedly individual way.
