Uusi maailma (The New World) was a bi-weekly general magazine published by the newspaper Uusi Suomi. The magazine was published under the name Uusi maailma in 1963–1979 as a result of the merger of the Naisten maailma (Women's World) and Uusi Kuvalehti (New Picture Magazine) in August 1963. From the combination of the names of the two magazines, the magazine was named "Uusi maailma". Later, a more striking abbreviation UM was added to the original name. (wikipedia)
