This book is in a way Plastic People volume 2. Both books are approved by Zappa. Zweitausendeins: "The book [Zonx] was compiled, edited and commented by Zappa himself. Translated by Carl Weissner, who discussed the intricate passages with Zappa."

Zonx was reprinted several times in 1996 and then again in 2004. The 1996 printing had artwork on front/spine and ISBN number on back, but no dust jacket. The 2004 printing came with dust jacket and simple black cover.

On the dust cover and in Zweitausendeins catalog (Merkheft) this book is titled Zonx: Texte letzter Hand, 1977-1994.
