First original edition from April (March?) 1977. Dual English/German text with translations by Carl Weissner. Prints the lyrics to almost all Zappa's albums from Freak Out to Bongo Fury. This edition wasn't approved by Frank Zappa, who made corrections for a next edition, issued in December 1977.

In December 1977 the hardcover version of "Corrected Copy" was issued. As a paperback it was reprinted many times since 1977. Last known printing is #27 from 1993.

Die vorliegende Sammlung von Zappas Texten, die erste umfassende überhaupt, wurde nach den Unterlagen zusammengestellt, wie sie Zappa der Copyright-Stelle in Washington eingereicht hatte, wie sie Carl Weissner und Walter Hartmann nach bestem Wissen anhand der Platten ergänzen konnten.

Zappa hat jetzt die Erstausgabe (März 1977) überarbeitet und in sein Handexemplar Korrekturen, aber auch Streichungen und Ergänzungen notiert. So entstand die „Corrected Copy”, die Sie hier als Faksimile in Händen halten.

Sie soll die Zeit überbrücken bis zur bearbeiteten, heiliggesprochenen Neuausgabe (neu gesetzt, z. T. neu übersetzt, entsprechend den hier verzeichneten Anmerkungen).

Auf einem Zettel hat uns der Autor auch seinen Titelvorschlag für die neue Ausgabe aufgeschrieben (siehe Rückseite): DA WERDZ. Was man am besten so übersetzt: DE TÄXTE.

Publisher's supplement to Frank Zappa's "Plastic People. Corrected Copy"

The present collection of Zappa's lyrics, the first comprehensive one ever compiled (according to the documents from Zappa's copyright office in Washington), was made by Carl Weissner and Walter Hartmann and is based on information retrieved from records.

Zappa has now reviewed the first edition (March 1977) and made corrections in his personal copy, but also deletions and additions. Thus was born the "Corrected Copy" you have now as facsimile in your hands.

It will bridge the time until the edited, canonized edition appears (rewritten, partly newly translated, according to comments posted here).

In a note to us, the author has also written his book title proposal for the new edition (see back): DA WERDZ. What is best translated as follows: DE TÄXTE.
