National Lampoon

 USA

National Lampoon was a ground-breaking American humor magazine. It started in 1970 as an offshoot of the Harvard Lampoon.
The magazine declined during the late 1980s. It was kept barely alive for a number of years for brand name reasons, but it ceased publication altogether in 1998. (wikipedia)

College Concert Cut-Ups
Comics by Michael Choquette & Sean Kelly & Joe Orlando & Henry Scarpelli & Peter Bramley, 9 pp

Mindsnackbooks.com:

The square, Archie-like students of some middle America college book Frank Zappa (1940-1993) for the homecoming dance. The kids ask a bunch of stupid questions and Zappa's bandmates ignore most of them. The comic book parody has good drawings but no story.

"1970 - FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - COLLEGE CONCERT CUT-UPS BY MICHEL CHOQUETTE - 7 PAGES OF COMICS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AT A FRANK ZAPPA AND THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION CONCERT AT SOME COLLEGE - ALSO CONTAINS AN ARTICLE AND DRAWING OF JOHN & YOKO LENNON - MICK JAGGER PHOTO AND ARTICLE PLUS MORE - COMPLETE 80 PAGES NATIONAL LAMPOON ORIGINAL MAGAZINE.

SOME COOL AND RARE 7 PAGES OF FRANK ZAPPA COMICS FROM 1970. INCLUDES A BUNCH OF OTHER FUNNY CRAP AS ALL NATIONAL LAMPOON MAGAZINES ALWAYS DID. I GUESS THAT BY 1970 FRANK ZAPPA WAS KNOWN PRETTY WELL SINCE NATIONAL LAMPOON DID THIS COMIC ABOUT HIM. HOWEVER WHAT JUST MIGHT BE A LITTLE INTERESTING IS THAT IN THE COMIC HE'S DRAWN PERFORMING WITH THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION. JIMMY CARL BLACK, ROY ESTRADA, IAN UNDERWOOD, BUNK & BUZZ GARDNER, DON PRESTON, EVEN A SECOND DRUMMER. { DOESN'T LOOK LIKE BILLY MUNDI, BUT I GUESS THAT'S WHAT THEY WERE GOING AFTER }. ALL OF THE OTHER MOTHERS ARE EASILY RECOGNISED IN THE DRAWINGS. HOWEVER FRANK HAD ALREADY DISBANDED THIS VERSION OF THE MOTHERS IN 1969. BUT REALLY THAT DOESN'T MATTER. THE CARTOON ARTIST HAD PROBABLY SEEN PHOTOS OF THEM AND THIS CONCERT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE HAPPENED IN THE PAST. I MEAN, HOW UP TO DATE CAN A COMIC BE. HUH LARRY?"
