Overseas Weekly

 Germany

The Overseas Weekly was an English-language newspaper published in Frankfurt, Germany, from 1950 to 1975. Its primary audience was American military personnel stationed in Europe, especially enlisted men and especially in Germany, reaching a circulation of about 50,000 copies a week. Sister publications eventually included Overseas Family and Overseas Traveler, as well as a Pacific edition during the height of the Vietnam War. Conflict with the U.S. military establishment was a frequent occurrence. (wikipedia)

The Great Universal Grab Bag of Assorted Facts and Useful Information
By Michael McCarthy, p 18

FRANK ZAPPA, once and future Mother of Invention, has couple of record companies (called Bizarre and Straight) upon which he produces various freaks and folks. Like a real weirdie group named "Alice Cooper" (bigger of freaks you'll be lucky never to meet). For one thing, sex of the lead singer is open to question. Vocalist, press agent says, "has no facial hair to, speak of, appears onstage in slinky sequined mini-dresses and sings in a smooth baritone: Wearing handfuls of mascara and rouge, he/she/it is quite bizarre by any measure. And the rest of them come on like amphetamine drag queens." Latest album, "Pretties for You," defies description, but if it helps, Frank Z. seems impressed (the pervert!). You can sample Alice and her(?) friends โ€“ Captain Beefheart, Tim Buckley, The Mothers and the incredible GTOs โ€“ on a 14-cut promotion album called ZAPPED. Made available to all who send one U.S. green to ZAPPED, Room 208, Warner/Reprise Records, Burbank, Calif.
