Zappa s'intéresse aux New York Dolls
By ?, p 4

Automatic translation: Frank has come, in fact, on several occasions, to attend the shows of the group which is most talked about for its very ambiguous stage outfit and its outrageous exhibitionism on the east coast of the United States. The New York Dolls, like the Velvet Underground at one time, are often the topic of every hip 'conversation in New York and Megalopolis. They know how to shock the very puritanical souls of the silent majority, and easily rank among the most famous decadent rockers with Alice Cooper and Bowie. Their managers Marty Thau and Steve Lieber are looking for a company to make them burn a record. But until now the demand for $ 250,000 for the first contract has always seemed far too high to those contacted. Only Zappa seems really interested in all the possibilities of the Dolls. Maybe he'll hire them on his label Straight / Bizarre. Let's not forget that it's still with Father Zap' that Captain Beefheart and Alice Cooper made their first discographic step.
